Water supply and water quality

As climate patterns change, communities are experiencing less-reliable supplies of water. Challenges include extended drought, loss of natural storage as snow or groundwater, changing seasonality of precipitation or snowmelt, and capturing precipitation from more intense storms. Existing water quality problems such as eutrophication and turbidity will generally increase under climate change, adding to treatment costs and further stressing budgets.

As resources decline or become more erratic, competition among stakeholders increases, allocation decisions become more complex, and solutions become more expensive. Population pressures exacerbate stresses caused by climate change.

Our experts model climate change impacts on your community's water resources, and provide decision-support services to promote pro-active, stakeholder-designed strategic plans.
